ReganBooks Gone, Many LA Staffers Head East

By Neal

Julie Bosman has the quick story for NYT: HarperCollins is deleting the ReganBooks imprint, but bringing Cal Morgan and other staffers back into the 53rd Street headquarters from the Los Angeles outpost Judith Regan had established just a year ago; PublishersMarketplace names additional bringbacks: executive managing editor/senior editor Cassie Jones; marketing director Gregg Sullivan; and senior art director Richard Ljoenes. (Hope Harper is picking up the moving expenses for them!) One holdout: publicity director Suzanne Wickham will remain in LA, where she’s been based for years.

<a href="http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/01/17/entertainment/e122051S41.DTL"Hillel Italie has more for the AP, including an opening line (“Bye-bye, ReganBooks”) that Sarah wanted for herself, and of course all this comes a little less than a week after New York Magazine openly wondered about the fate of the Santa Monica office (which is actually further inland, in Century City). We’ll be looking forward to seeing what Scott Timberg and/or Josh Getlin have to say about all this for the LA Times soon…

As for the Regan books, after March 1 they’ll be published under the logo “HC.”
