Regan vs. HarperCollins et al: Waiting for the Great Leap Forward

By Neal

Judith Regan‘s publicist, Allan Meyer, is handling the inevitable negative spin attached to his client’s lawsuit against HarperCollins, News Corp., and Jane Friedman by accusing blogger/journalists like Jeff Bercovici and Roger Parloff of rhetorical tactics “characteristic of the totalitarian style.” Why? Because Parloff thinks she sounds flat out crazy and Bercovici compared her suit to Dan Rather‘s against CBS, suggesting both plaintiffs came across as “angry, delusional obsessives desperate to get even with The System.” And when all this is sorted out, by God, Mayer wants some public apologies! And Bercovici says, if it comes to that, he won’t just do it, he’ll do it on Regan’s satellite radio show. But first he’s going to need some of that hard proof Mayer insists is forthcoming.
