Red-Letter Days for Thomas Nelson

Earlier this week, Christian publisher Thomas Nelson reported the most successful quarter in its history, with net revenues up 10 percent. “Our growth is spread over multiple sales channels, with our four largest channels growing the most dynamically,” Nelson CEO Michael Hyatt elaborated. “The ministry sales division, responsible for selling our products directly to individuals and churches, increased sales 35 percent over last year. And, in spite of a challenging retail environment, all of the Company’s retail sales channels have experienced double-digit growth. The mass-market channel that includes Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Costco increased sales by 30 percent, the general book retail channel by 16 percent, and the Christian retail channel by 15 percent.”

Now Hyatt has even more to celebrate, with five books on next week’s NYT bestseller lists, again the best performance in the company’s history. In addition to the still-lingering success of Denise Jackson‘s It’s All About Him on the nonfiction list, Nelson has four titles on the hardcover and paperback advice lists, including two books that came out just last week: Deborah Norville‘s Thank You Power and David Jeremiah‘s Signs of Life.
