Ransom Riggs Inks 2-Book Deal With Dutton Children’s Books

Ransom RiggsRansom Riggs has signed a two-book deal with the Penguin Young Readers imprint, Dutton Children’s Books. He (pictured, via) has become well-known as the author behind the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy.

For the first book, Riggs intends to write an illustrated collection of fairy tales set in the Peregrine universe entitled Tales of the Peculiar. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Riggs’ second book under the deal will be an all-new YA story not connected to the Peregrine series.”

Julie Strauss-Gabel, vice president and publisher, negotiated the deal with Jodi Reamer, a literary agent at Writers House. Strauss-Gabel will edit Riggs’ manuscripts. Entertainment Weekly reports that the publication date for the fairy tale book has been set for Fall 2016. The Tim Burton-helmed film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will hit theaters in Dec. 2016. (via Bustle)
