Rachel Fershleiser Joins Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

hmh304Rachel Fershleiser has been hired as the executive director of audience development at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). Her start date has been scheduled for June 20 and she will be based in the company’s New York City office.

Ellen Archer, the president of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Trade Publishing, gave this statement in the press release: “I am thrilled to have Rachel join the HMH team. She has a great passion for books and authors and will play a key role in expanding HMH’s social media presence while bringing together writers and readers in new ways.”

Just prior to this development Fershleiser served as the director of publisher outreach at Tumblr. In the past, she has held positions at Bookish, the Housing Works Bookstore Café, HarperCollins’ William Morrow imprint, and Simon & Schuster’s Scribner imprint.
