Publishing Layoff Advice

That’s a trailer for Erik Proulx’s upcoming documentary about creative people coping with layoffs, Lemonade–perhaps providing some comfort to the layoff-rocked publishing industry.

Proulx was the special guest on today’s Morning Media Menu, talking about his journey from an advertising firm to documentary film and his Please Feed the Animals blog. He discussed post-layoff strategies gleaned from a number of interviews with recently cut employees.

Here’s a quote from Proulx, from the show: “I think [the documentary] is industry agnostic in terms of both the pain and opportunity of layoffs. It doesn’t matter if you are in the advertising industry or financial planning or publishing. It sucks. You have every right to mourn. But only for a day. That’s my personal philosophy.”
