Today the Do the Write Thing for Nashville blog announced that publishing professionals have already raised $5,000 in donations for flood victims in Tennessee.

Here’s more from the post: We are absolutely overwhelmed with the generosity of this community. From the over-the-top, one-of-a-kind donations that keep rolling in, to the good-natured back-and-forth teasing in the auction comments (I mean, I hope y’all are joking about the personal injury stuff), and especially the MAD promotion going down via blogs, Twitter and Facebook–Book People are rocking our lives right now. But most importantly, you’re changing lives for those who have lost so much.”

There are already 18 items donated to the cause from publishers, authors, and readers. The auction items range from Melissa Marr books to a critique from agent Josh Adams. Follow these directions to bid.
