J.K. Rowling has written a new essay for the Magic in North America series. Pottermore has posted Rowling’s piece on the United States-based educational institution, the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The video embedded above offers an introduction to preview of what Harry Potter fans can expect from the second installment of this series. In addition to the new piece, Pottermore has also unveiled a digital sorting ceremony for those who wish to find out which of the four Ilvermorny houses they belong to: Horned Serpent, Pukwudgie, Thunderbird, or Wampus.

Here’s an excerpt from Rowling’s essay: “It is sometimes said of the Ilvermorny houses that they represent the whole witch or wizard: the mind is represented by Horned Serpent; the body, Wampus; the heart, Pukwudgie and the soul, Thunderbird. Others say that Horned Serpent favours scholars, Wampus, warriors, Pukwudgie, healers and Thunderbird, adventurers.”
