Possible Pottermore Memos Leaked

Two confidential documents concerning J.K. Rowling‘s mysterious Pottermore website have surfaced. A memo was reportedly sent to the Times UK by mistake and it describes the site as “a sophisticated online game” involving a treasure hunt.

Here’s more from paidContent.org: “The Times UK notes that it is ‘not clear whether the treasure hunt is Pottermore itself, or merely a marketing drive for another product,’ and it is also unclear whether the memo was actually accidentally leaked or is simply a savvy marketing ploy.”

With less than 19 hours to go until Rowling’s official announcement about the site, Harry Potter fans have been speculating that the site could be an eBookstore or a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game).

According to The Independent, every national news publication in the UK received a confidential document containing the PR timeline and marketing strategy for the launch of Pottermore. The Independent published the entire document, revealing that the site could be something called “Quill Quest.”

Considering the three possible screenshots leaked earlier, “a savvy marketing ploy” does not seem out of the question. What do you think?

In anticipation for both Pottermore and the forthcoming release of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2, enthusiastic Facebook users have created the “Tribute to the Magic of Harry Potter” event page, asking fans everywhere to change their Facebook profile picture to an image related to the Harry Potter series.
