By Jason Boog

Philip Budnick has been named editorial director at Penguin’s Plume imprint.

Budnick served on Penguin’s sales team for 17 years. In 1999, he was promoted to national account sales manager, overseeing accounts with Costco, BJ’s, Sam’s Club, and Target.

Here’s more from the release: “Budnick started his career working for Booksellers in Cleveland. He joined Penguin Group USA in 1994 as a Field Representative for the Midwest Region, where he managed accounts that included Joseph-Beth, Davis-Kidd, Barbara’s Bookstore, and Partners. His idea for ‘shelf talkers’ was implemented by Joseph-Beth and Davis-Kidd and subsequently used throughout the retail bookselling industry. He was twice named ‘Penguin Rep of the Year.'”
