Peter Ames Carlin Quits Oregonian To Work on Bruce Springstreen Bio

TV critic Peter Ames Carlin (pictured, via) has left The Oregonian to work full time on a Bruce Springstreen biography. According to Wilamette Week, he had actually been on leave since January for that project.

Carlin explained why he’s leaving permanently: “The paper’s needs and mission have shifted away from the kind of work I felt most interested in doing. So that’s sad, but I’ve got a lot of work on the Springsteen book ahead of me, and other opportunities I’m eager to pursue once the book is done.”

Carlin has written biographies of Sir Paul McCartney (The Beatles) and Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys). In 2005, he became involved in a highly public dispute with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. (via Publishers Weekly)
