Filmmaker William Allen is hoping to raise $4,500 on Kickstarter to make a documentary film on the pencil.
No.2 film hopes to document the “historical significance of the pencil” in an era in which pencils are less in demand. The documentary will include interviews with “the most prominent voices on the pencil.” Here is more about the project from the Kickstarter page:
The Pencil changed everything. Invention, craftsmanship, art, engineering, manufacturing, government, history, and business are a result of the pencil. Although the Pencil technology provided a way to move thoughts to a tangible form, technology is never static.
