Paranormal State Director Ryan Buell Comes Out in Memoir

Paranormal State director and producer Ryan Buell used his memoir to come out of the closet.  In Paranormal State: My Journey into the Unknown, the producer explored his bisexuality.

Buell felt that writing was his true passion. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a double-major in journalism and anthropology. It was during college that he founded the Paranormal Research Society. The hit A&E television series began in December 2007, launching Buell’s media career.

The Chicago Tribune reported: “The book version of Paranormal State is not what you would expect. The plot is basically one linear story starting with Buell facing the end of college life, following him through the filming of the show’s first season and ending on the night Paranormal State [the television series] finally premieres. It does give the behind-the-scenes accounts that fans of the show will want, but it also delves much deeper into Buell’s world and his psyche, which was hard for the self-declared private person.”
