Original Voices IDed at the Borders

We told you last November when the Borders Original Voices Awards nominations came out, and yesterday Borders announced the results. No real surprises in the winners circle: Nicole Krauss and The History of Love take the fiction prize; nonfiction goes to Emma Larkin’s Finding George Orwell in Burma. Although the YA award was given to Gabrielle Zevin’s Elsewhere, about a post-mortem existence “filled with those who have passed before and where life is lived backward, from the age at your death until you are once again an infant.” Somewhere in England, Martin Amis is grinding his perfect teeth at the realization that if he’d only written for the YA market…
