markobamaMark Obama Ndesandjo, President Barack Obama’s half-brother, is reportedly working on a book that he plans to self-publish in February.

The book is titled Cultures: My Odyssey of Self-Discovery and recounts the story of an abusive father. The Associated Press has the story: “In his new book, Ndesandjo recalls alcohol-fueled beatings meted out by his father to his mother. He recounts one incident in which his father held a knife to his mother’s throat because she took out a restraining order against him.”

In his own memoir, Dreams From My Father, the president reveals a desire to know more about his father, who died when he was young. Mark Obama told the AP that the president has distanced himself from his brother because of his writing.
