The New York Public Library has teamed up with the Academy of American Poets to host four poetry events this fall.
The series pairs poets with creative artists from other fields to help explore how different art forms are inspired by poetry. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with our friends at The New York Public Library on a new series that celebrates today’s poets and other leading artists, demonstrating poetry’s impact and relevancy,” stated Jennifer Benka, director of the Academy of American Poets.
The schedule is as follows:
September 9: Claudia Rankine and artist Carrie Mae Weems
October 19: Mark Doty and choreographer Bill T. Jones
November 19: Kevin Young and Prune chef Gabrielle Hamilton
December 11: Sharon Olds and actress Cynthia Nixon
The events are free, but you have to sign up online first. Follow this link to register.
