Nobel Prize Winning Author Nadine Gordimer Has Died

445976Nobel Prize-winning author Nadine Gordimer has died. The South African writer was 90 years old.

Gordimer, who was best known for speaking out against apartheid, wrote more than 30 books, including: The ConservationistWhat Happened to Burger’s Daughter Or How South African Censorship WorksSomething Out There and July’s People. She also published a number of short story collections including: No Place Like: Selected StoriesFace to Face: Short Stories and Reflections of South Africa.

Gordimer was the recipient of the Booker Prize in 1974 and the Nobel Prize for literature in 1991. In 2003, she won the Mary McCarthy Award and in 2008, she was shortlisted for the Best of the Booker prize.
