No Paperbacks for Goody “Autobiography”

Ah, Jade Goody. The ultimate reality show queen, famous for no discernible reason other than being “herself” on some version of BIG BROTHER or another. And then her autobiography was published and went supernova, and suddenly she wasn’t restricted to the front cover (and inside pages) of Heat and Hello! magazines. But just when HarperCollins UK was all set to publish the paperback edition – complete with a new chapter which the publisher previously said was “guaranteed to illuminate Britain’s favorite gobby girl even further” – Goody’s troublesome ability to shoot her mouth off in entirely inappropriate ways has scuttled such plans.

The problem, according to the Evening Standard? Goody’s alleged racially motivated bullying of fellow contestant Shilpa Shetty on the currently airing edition of CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER. “In light of recent events, HarperCollins has decided it wouldn’t be appropriate to proceed with the paperback publication of Jade: My Autobiography as planned on 5 February. The author and agent support this decision.” It’s the latest bit of bad news for Goody, coming after Boots, Debenhams and the Perfume Shop removed her fragrance Shh from the shelves in the wake of her stint in the Big Brother House, from which she’s been kicked off. No wonder Goody says the comment was “the worst mistake of my life.”
