Night of the Giving Dead Charity Auction

YA author Carrie Harris has decided to celebrate the release of her zombie novel, Bad Taste in Boys, by hosting a charity auction.

Her “Night of the Giving Dead” event will benefit the Mott Giving Library, a mobile cart sharing books with patients at the University of Michigan’s C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The auction includes two big items: a new Kindle Wi-Fi (along with an eBook of Bad Taste in Boys) and a six month writing mentorship with Harris. Several other items are also up for auction; some have been tailored for readers and others for writers.

Harris’ event was inspired by a similar event organized by YA writer Cynthea Liu. Here’s more: “[Liu’s] efforts raised about $15,000 in reading materials for those students [at Oklahoma Title 1 schools]. And when I saw that, I thought, ‘Holy crapsticks. That’s so awesome!’…But what organization to choose? I wanted something to do with books, but I also really wanted to support U of M hospitals. The Giving Library combines the best of both worlds.”
