Nick Lake Lands Two-Book Deal

By Jason Boog

Michael L. Printz Award winner Nick Lake has inked a deal with Bloomsbury Publishing for two more young adult novels.

Caradoc King and Louise Lamont at AP Watt negotiated the deal with Bloomsbury Children’s Books US publishing director Cindy Loh and Bloomsbury Children’s Books UK publishing director Rebecca McNally.  The first book is still untitled, but the literary thriller will be released in 2014. Here’s more about the book, from the release:

It follows Shelby Jane Cooper, whose life is turned upside-down when  she is  hit by a car  and discovers everything she knows about herself and her family might possibly be a complete and utter lie. As she is drawn into an increasingly complicated, foreign reality, she must grapple with tough questions about the past, the future, and ultimately who she can trust. Lake’s emotionally charged story also challenges the reader to decide between fact and fiction in Shelby’s world as it twists and turns throughout the narrative to its shocking conclusion.

Lake won the Printz Award at the 2013 ALA Awards for In Darkness. We’ve collected free samples of all the ALA Award winners.
