reedpopReedPOP, the company that puts on New York Comic Con, is launching a new comic book event called Special Edition: NYC. The first one will be held June 14-15 at Javits Center North.

The event is designed specifically for comic books, as New York Comic Con has grown beyond just comic books. The idea is for fans to connect with comics creators. “This new comic book festival will provide fans the opportunity to connect with artists, socialize with fellow collectors in a unique setting and search for those always hard to find back issues,” explains the press release. “The event is a pure celebration of comic book culture created specifically for die-hard comic book fans, creators and publishers.”

“New York Comic Con has grown to include so much more than comic books – it is the ultimate pop culture event. Special Edition: NYC will give comic book fans an intimate destination to meet with publishers and special guests,” explained Lance Fensterman, Global Senior Vice President of ReedPOP, in a statement. “Its creation is meeting consumer demand for more comic book experiences and builds upon our mission to provide fans of all kinds the very best in experiential events.”

Special guests will include: Alex Maleev (Daredevil), Brian Wood (DMZ), Charles Soule (Letter 44), Dustin Nguyen (Batman: Lil Gotham), Frank Cho (Savage Wolverine), Greg Pak (Action Comics), and James Tynion IV (Batman Eternal), among many others.
