New Novel from Pat Conroy

By Carmen

The author of THE PRINCE OF TIDES hasn’t published a novel since 1995, so the news that a new work of fiction is forthcoming from Pat Conroy isn’t just welcome to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, to whom he broke the news to promote a fund-raising appearance he’s making for a library foundation. The new novel is set in Charleston and is already nearly 700 pages, Conroy said to the AJC. “It drives me nuts. But long-windedness … there’s nothing you can do about it. I wanted to write a 250-page novel, but I realize I can’t even write a prologue that’s 250 pages.” No publication date – or a publisher, for that matter – was reported at this time.
