Lisa Lucas, the new director of the National Book Awards, wants to get young people to read.

In an interview with NPR, Lucas said that the organization wants young people to think that books are cool. “We do want young people to feel like this is cool, like this is glamorous, like this is actually as important as music or theater or dance or film,” she told NPR.

The National Book Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday on New York. GalleyCat will be covering the event, so be sure to check in on the blog that evening. In the meantime, you can check out the finalists at this link.
