The Natan Fund, a foundation that supports Jewish nonprofits, has introduced a new award to support books on Jewish themes. The Natan Book Award will award selected authors with $50,000.
The money will be divided up in two stages. First, individual authors will be granted $15,000 to support the writing process. The second financing phase will pay for the book’s marketing.
Journalists Jeffrey Goldberg and Franklin Foer will co-chair the Natan Book Award Committee. The Fund is currently looking for submissions for next year’s award. The deadline is December 3rd. Follow this link to find out more details.
New York Times columnist David Brooks, announced the new award at the Nathan Fund’s 10 year anniversary party. “The Natan Book Award provides Natan with a vehicle for bringing its support for creative and meaningful new initiatives into the intellectual arena,” explained Brooks in a statement. “In ten years of grantmaking, Natan has helped to galvanize innovation across the Jewish and Israeli social sectors. The Book Award will leverage that experience on behalf of a gifted author with groundbreaking ideas.”
