NaNoWriMo 2016 Tip #9: Mitigate Stress With Soothing Music

By Maryann Yin

Are you feeling frazzled by the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenge? A team of neuroscientists from the United Kingdom conducted a study and found that one way to help with stress management is to listen to a playlist of soothing songs.

The video embedded above features one of the recommended tracks, “Weightless” by Marconi Union. Click here to check out “The Most Relaxing Playlist in the World” from Spotify.

Here’s more from Inc.: “In this age of constant bombardment, the science is clear: if you want your mind and body to last, you’ve got to prioritize giving them a rest. Music is an easy way to take some of the pressure off of all the pings, dings, apps, tags, texts, emails, appointments, meetings, and deadlines that can easily spike your stress level and leave you feeling drained and anxious.”

This is our ninth NaNoWriMo Tip of the Day. To help GalleyCat readers who are taking on the challenge of writing a draft for a 50,000-word novel in 30 days, we will be offering advice throughout the entire month.
