Molly Ringwald Signs Book Deal

B00005JKOI.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg1980s movie star Molly Ringwald scored a book deal with HarperCollins with a March 2009 deadline.

Bucking the trend of celebrity memoirs, the star of Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club is writing a novel about living as a 40-year-old. In her personal life, Ringwald has maintained strong literary connections–she first married to French novelist Valery Lameignere and then Greek editor Panio Gianopoulos. She has written book reviews, as well.

The LA Times has an interview: “[The book is] not just about 40, but people who are of my generation, catching up and what that’s like and how you have to reidentify yourself at that age in a culture that’s pretty youth-driven. But it’s fine actually! Leading up to 40 is much worse than being 40. The sort of tick-tock — everything just seems so much weirder and scarier than it actually is.”
