Michigan Couple Won’t Go to Jail Over Lost Library Book

By Dianna Dilworth

A couple in Michigan that faced jail time for not returning two overdue library books, got off with  a fine.

Catherine Duren was charged for failing to return A Hatful of Seuss which she checked out in 2014 and then lost. Her husband faced charges for checking out The Rome Prophecy by Michael Morley and keeping it for more than eight months.

The prosecutor’s office dismissed the misdemeanor charges and ruled that the couple Durens pay their late fees and pay to replace the lost Dr. Seuss book. (Via ABC News).
