Michael R. Roskam to Direct The Tiger Adaptation

Focus Features has tapped Oscar-nominated director Michael R. Roskam (Bullhead) to helm an adaptation of The Tiger by John Vaillant.

Babel screenwriter¬†Guillermo Arriaga wrote the script. Random House’s Knopf imprint published the nonfiction title in August 2010. The book recounts the story of Russian village’s encounter with a man-eating tiger.

Here’s more from Deadline: “This film was set up originally as a directing vehicle for Darren Aronofsky, who stepped off the project to direct the Russell Crowe-starrer Noah. Brad Pitt produces with Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B and Aronofsky is producing with Protozoa cohorts Mark Heyman and Ari Handel.”
