We’ve collected the books debuting on Indiebound’s Indie Bestseller List for the week ending December 4, 2011–a sneak peek at the books everybody will be talking about next month.

(Debuted at #2 in Hardcover Fiction) The Drop by Michael Connelly: “Harry Bosch has been given three years before he must retire from the LAPD, and he wants cases more fiercely than ever. In one morning, he gets two.” (November 2011)

(Debuted at #12 in Children’s Interest) War Horse by Michael Morpurgo: “Joey is a warhorse, but he wasn’t always. Once, he was a farm horse and a gentle boy named Albert was his master. Then World War I came storming through and everything changed. Albert’s father sells Joey to the army where the beautiful, red-bay horse is trained to charge the enemy, drag heavy artillery, and carry wounded soldiers not much older than Albert off of battlefields. Amongst the clamoring of guns and slogging through the cold mud, Joey wonders if the war will ever end. And if it does, will he ever find Albert again?” (August 2007)

(Debuted at #14 in Children’s Illustrated) The Twelve Days of Christmas by Laurel Long: “Set against a lush countryside, each day brings a new gift elegantly rendered. And like in the verses of the song, the previous gifts are repeated in every illustration, giving this striking artwork a hidden aspect, culminating in a staggering spread featuring them all. Readers will pore over every page, searching for golden rings, turtledoves, and all the rest, secretly tucked into each stunning painting.” (October 2011)
