New Yorkers will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with mystery writer Mary Higgins Clark (pictured, via). According to Irish Central, Clark will act as grand marshal for the city’s 250th St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Clark will come down Fifth Avenue in a carriage drawn by a horse named “Paddy.” Her father, Luke Higgins, immigrated from Ireland and her mother, Nora is Irish by descent. In an interview with Irish American Magazine, Clark explained how her heritage has shaped her: “Yes. I’ll leave it to other people to decide whether I’m a writer or not. What I am is an Irish storyteller.”

Clark will release her latest book I’ll Walk Alone on April 5th. Shortly after, she will go on a national book tour to promote it.
