October has been a busy month for musicians. Last week Ben Folds played a concert with author Nick Hornby. At the same time, several rock stars will also release books. Here’s a line-up of these music artists-turned-writers.
In the video embedded above, you can see Greg Graffin–who fronts the punk band, Bad Religion. He holds a PhD in zoology and has a day job as a UCLA professor. His new nonfiction book, Anarchy Evolution: Faith, Science, and Bad Religion in a World Without God, explores issues in science and theology.
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards will publish his memoir, Life on October 26th. While designing the cover, Little, Brown creative director Mario Pulice coincidentally picked out Richards’ favorite photo of himself.
Comedian Russell Brand played rock star Aldous Snow in a recent film. This month Brand just released his second memoir, Booky Wook 2: This Time It’s Personal . At a Barnes & Noble event, he told the audience that he did indeed write the book himself. His rabid fans resembed a Beatlemania mob.
Pop singer Rick Springfield authored a memoir entitled Late, Late at Night. Although primarily known as a musician, Springfield has also had an extensive career in acting and can now add “writer” to his resume. The book was in stores on October 12th.
While not a rock star herself, Mick Jagger’s ex-wife Jerry Hall just released her illustrated memoir, Jerry Hall: My Life in Pictures this month–looking back at her life with the Rolling Stones’ rock star.
