Lin-Manuel Miranda, a renowned musician and theatrical actor, has signed a deal with Grand Central Publishing. With Hamilton:The Book, Miranda will offer “a backstage pass” to his hit musical.
Executive editor Ben Greenberg negotiated the deal with Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller and William Morris Endeavor literary agent Andy McNicol. The publisher has set the release date for April 2016. According to the press release, “the book will be produced by Melcher Media, creators of other successful Broadway books such as Wicked: The Grimmerie and Rent.”
Miranda drew inspiration for this show from Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography on founding father Alexander Hamilton. It debuted Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in January 2015 and will open on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in August 2015. Click here to watch a Hamilton video montage.
