Library Journal & BiblioBoard to Curate Self-Published Books in Libraries

By Dianna Dilworth

selfeLibraries are about to get a lot more self-published eBooks. First Smashwords revealed a partnership with OverDrive. Now digital library platform BiblioBoard has partnered with trade publication Library Journal to create a curated platform for distributing and reading self-published books through libraries called SELF-e.

Library Journal will review all of the self-published submissions, choose their favorites and then curate the content into genre collections. The SELF-e collection allows authors make their books available at local libraries through the BiblioBoard platform.

Here are more details from BiblioBoard’s site: “If selected via Library Journal’s SELF-e curation process, the author’s ebooks will become part of a unique discovery platform for participating public libraries across the United States that enables patrons to read ebooks on any device, at any time. This free service is available to all self-published authors, no matter which self-publishing service(s) they use.”
