LeBron James Poetry Contest Ends Today

By Jason Boog

To celebrate the basketball star’s arrival on the hometown team, the Miami Herald has sponsored a LeBron James Poetry Contest.

The deadline is 6 p.m. tonight, so start polishing your poems now. You might want to read James’ Twitter feed for inspiration. Below, we’ve embedded a video of James making his decision to move to Miami.

Our sibling blog SportsNewser has all the details: “We know Heat fans have spent all summer coming up with their best haiku to commemorate James taking his talents to South Beach. Below are the rules of the contest:  Poem must commemorate the arrival of LeBron James to Miami.  The poem can utilize any poetic form (haiku, rhyming couplets, limerick, free verse, etc.) but it cannot exceed six lines (LeBron’s jersey is #6). No limit to the number of poems you can submit. Only one poem per submission.”
