LATBR Web Plans Unveiled

The LA Observed blog ran an internal memo from LA Times “innovation editor” Russ Stanton which, among other things, detailed the new elements of the paper’s forthcoming combined book review/op-ed section:

“This Sunday, Book Review/Opinion will offer up a host of web-only features. For books there will be columns be about mysteries, science fiction, children’s literature, literary news and more reviews than in print. Opinion has three web-only columns, Opinion Daily, Blowback, feedback from readers and subjects of stories and editorials, and Dust-Up, a weeklong debate between two people with contrasting views about an issue in the news.”

I’d heard whispers around town that former Village Voice writer Ed Park would be doing the sci-fi column, and after hearing from my writing partner here at GalleyCat, I can reveal that Sarah Weinman is going to be the mystery correspondent.
