Karate Kid Novelization Fans Unite at Amazon

By Jason Boog

Back in 1984, this GalleyCat editor read and re-read a battered copy of B. B. Hiller’s novelization of The Karate Kid. With eight positive reviews, the book has a small, but loyal, following in the customer reviews section. One new copy is being sold for $277.

Around the 9-minute mark of today’s Morning Media Menu, we discussed the upcoming remake of The Karate Kid–the original trailer is embedded above. What do you think–should this movie be remade? Or re-novelized?

After giving the original novelization a five star rating, one seventh grade teacher posted this request: “I am desperately looking for 25 copies of the Karate Kid book. I need them for a 7th grade English class. I have ALWAYS loved this movie, and would love to share the story with a group of middle school students..Especially now that a new remake of the Karate Kid will be out in theaters this summer, which looks AWESOME!!!?”
