Twist Cover (GalleyCat)Filmmaker Joss Whedon has landed a deal with Dark Horse Comics. The director behind the first two Avengers movies will write the story for a new comic book called Twist.

The story, set in the Victorian era, stars a young maid who transforms into a hero. At this point in time, no release date has been set for this six-part mini-series.

Here’s more from Entertainment Weekly: “Whedon is no stranger to comics. He wrote an acclaimed revamp of Astonishing X-Men for Marvel Comics in 2004. Since 2007, he has written or executive produced a line of popular Buffy comics published by Dark Horse. He’s dialed down his comics work in recent years due to the demands of directing Avengers and launching the ABC drama Marvel’s The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will enter its third season this fall. Whedon has said in many recent interviews that he’s no longer working for Marvel Studios, so now he has time to pursue his new, original projects.”
