Joseph P. Abbott, Jr. has been hired as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). Abbott’s start date has been set for March 14.
Eric Shuman, the executive who has held this position since 2011, will retire. Shuman will serve as an advisor until July 1 during the transition period.

He has been involved in many important transactions within the education sector over the last ten years and brings a diverse combination of strategic, financial and investor relations expertise.”
