John Fogerty Lands Book Deal for Memoir

By Jason Boog

Rock star and songwriter John Fogerty will publish his memoir with Little, Brown in 2014.

The former Creedence Clearwater Revival lead singer will talk about his time in one of rock music’s most memorable bands, writing songs like “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising,” but he will also talk about his ongoing work as a solo artist. Publisher Michael Pietsch acquired the book and executive editor John Parsley will edit. Here’s more from the release:

His solo career includes the album Centerfield, as well as Grammy Award–winning records and award-winning tours … Fogerty will write about the pressures of sudden fame, his tumultuous relationships with his bandmates—including his brother, Tom—and his long and costly battle for creative freedom from his record label, a battle that was taken all the way to the Supreme Court. Crushed by how the record label victimized him, he was forced to walk away from it all while they were the number one band in the world.

Below, you can watch him perform “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” with Creedence Clearwater Revival–the video has been viewed 20 million times on YouTube.
