Joe Lieberman Lands Book Deal on ‘Beauty of the Sabbath Observance’

Senator Joe Lieberman has inked a book deal with Simon & Schuster’s  Howard Books division. Entitled Gift of Rest, the new book will focus on “the beauty of the Sabbath observance.”

Lieberman had this statement: “I know some people will think it is unusual for a United States senator to write a book about a religious subject like the Sabbath, and no less unusual for a Jew to write about such a topic for an audience of Christians and other faiths as well as Jews. I have done so because of all the Sabbath has meant to me as a person and as a senator. Its rest is a gift from God that I want to share with readers of all faiths and a gift I hope you will accept.”

Publication is set for August. David Klinghoffer will co-write the book. Lieberman (pictured, via) will have more time to write soon–in January, the former vice presidential candidate announced that he will not seek reelection for a fifth term.
