Jim Carrey to Star in Mr. Popper’s Penguins Adaptation

Actor Jim Carrey has signed on to star in an adaptation of the 1939 Newbery Honor Book, Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Freaky Friday director Mark Waters will direct, and the script was written by Sean Anders and John Morris. Written by Richard and Florence Atwater in the late 1930s, the book has been a favorite of grade school teachers and readers. In April, rumors surfaced that Ben Stiller and Noah Baumbach were considering the project.
