Limondjian has enjoyed a forty-year career as a bookseller. As a college student, she worked as a part-time clerk at a New York University bookstore. Leonard Riggio, now the largest shareholder at Barnes & Noble, encouraged her to forgo a career in medicine and stick with book selling.

Here’s more from the release: “Jeanette began her career with Barnes & Noble creating store windows and writing radio ad copy. In fact, it was Jeanette who coined the slogan, ‘Barnes & Noble, an education in itself,’ which was engraved on a plaque outside the first Barnes & Noble store at 18th Street. It’s still there today … Jeanette says she is most proud of her creative contribution to the successful growth of B&N and its mission to democratize bookstores and make them a friendly and comfortable place to shop for books.”
