I’m Not in the Trailer? Dang!

I’m one of the several hundred contributors to Not Quite What I Was Planning, a collection of “six-word memoirs by writers famous and obscure” assembled by SMITH magazine, tucked away in the back half of the book on the same page as novelist Stephanie Lessing, journalist Gordon Hurd, skateboarder Kevin Wilkins, and (I’m assuming) the poet Jessica Reed. Come to think of it, I don’t think I saw any of them in this promotional video, either. It’s a grand conspiracy against page 174, is what it is!

So far, my favorite section in the book may be the one-two punch from publishing luminaries Daniel Halpern and Dan Menaker: “It’s all about me, isn’t it?” and “My memoir? You can’t be serious.”
