If You Don’t Like Cat Pictures…

By Neal

…here’s some tips on what you can do to pass the time tomorrow morning until Sarah and I get back from our various engagements:

  • Dibs! is a new blog that posts about the galleys and ARCs that come their way, well before the official pub date. They also do a nice job of collating a quirky type of book industry news that tends to fall through the cracks here, like how a group of filmmakers in India got together and burned Dan Brown in effigy.
  • 43 Folders blogger Merlin Mann has put up an illuminating podcast about how procrastination torpedoed his book deal. It’s an important reminder that you need to stop “getting in the mood to write” and start writing.
  • BoingBoing reports that William Gibson may be blogging his new novel, with scenes set in Manhattan. Quite possibly the first Gray’s Papaya reference I’ve ever seen in a work of fiction, in fact.
  • Digerati pioneer R.U. Sirius has a podcast, too, and he interviews Robert Greenfield, the author of a new biography of Timothy Leary, and boy do they get into it.

And don’t worry, we won’t be gone long—our usual assortment of publishing industry news will be back on track Wednesday morning for sure and, heck, if everything goes according to plan and I’m not sent straight to bedrest, I might even be able to post something late Tuesday afternoon!
