IDW Publishing will adapt the Powerpuff Girls cartoon into a new comic series. The creative team behind this project aim to create a comic that will act as an extension for Cartoon Network’s new television reboot.
Jake Goldman and Haley Mancini will serve as the series staff writers. Derek Charm has come on board as the artist.
Here’s more from the press release: “With crime rates at a low, the first issue finds the Powerpuff Girls fallen off the public’s radar as a result… making this the perfect time for arch nemesis Mojo Jojo to make a comeback and take the town by storm!…Issue one will feature a subscription variant by artist Paulina Ganucheau (Dexter’s Laboratory, My Little Pony) and each retailer incentive cover will feature cover art by a Powerpuff Girls animator.” The release date for the first issue has been set for July 2016.
