How to Publish a Book During the Recession

Today’s guest on the Morning Media Menu is Phil Villarreal, a Consumerist contributing editor and Arizona Daily Star reporter.

He explored his new book, “Secrets of a Stingy Scoundrel“–a text perfectly-timed for this recession.

His advice spanned a whole collection of real life money problems: dating, engagements, hospital bills, and raising children. He also offered tips for writers pitching both novels and nonfiction books to publishers.

Here’s an excerpt from his inspiring interview: “If I can get a book published, then just about anyone can. This book was soundly rejected by just about every agent and publisher in existence. When the economy went to hell, people started looking for money books–an that’s the only reason this book got published, I’m convinced of that. Keep your head up and don’t let thorough, conclusive failure derail you.”
