How to Make a Kindle Cover (Or For Any eReader)

By Jason Boog

As more readers use the Amazon Kindle and other costly electronic reading devices, eReader covers have never been more important. Or expensive. You can spend between $40 and $110 in a single click trying to protect your machine.

Over at Chica & Jo, we found a handy how-to (and that video embedded above) for sewing your own eReader cover–it includes measurements for other devices as well. Did you buy a cover for an eReader? Share your recommendations in the comments for a future post.

Here’s an excerpt: “Like any good electronic device that you’ve invested money in, you’ll want to protect your Kindle with a cover. Ideally, it will be a useful and protective cover that’s also inexpensive. And it would be nice if it could prop the Kindle up for table-top reading or let the Kindle lay flat for hand-held reading. Oh, and it’s got to look crazy cute, too! Tall order, right? … why buy when you can make your own? So that’s just what I did. And I’m gonna show you how to make one, too! It’s really quite easy, believe it or not.”
