Ben Mezrich’s The Accidental Billionaires inspired the Golden Globe nominated film, The Social Network. However, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg did not play a part in making either Mezrich’s book or the film version.

According to The New York Times, the filmmakers wooed Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin to make the movie happen. In fact, producer Dana Brunetti claims that Saverin’s involvement was secured after partying with the stars at the Hollywood premiere for another Mezrich-book-turned movie, 21.
