Marvel has developed a new TV show for Captain America fans starring the superhero’s love interest, Agent Carter.
Actress Hayley Atwell (pictured, via) was first introduced as Peggy Carter in the Captain America: The First Avenger film adaptation. Atwell played this character again in a short film called Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. She has signed on to reprise her role for this new series and is currently filming The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie.
Here’s more from Deadline: “It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.”
ABC plans to air the premiere episode this Fall. They have also renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season. The Avengers sequel will hit the silver screen on May 1, 2015. (via Variety)
