HarperCollins Shuts Down Bowen Press

By Jason Boog

BowenPressLaunch-BookShelf7a.gifAs the bad news continued at HarperCollins today, the publisher decided to close Bowen Press. The press’ founder, Brenda Bowen, has departed from the company.

Bowen founded the press in June 2007, and the official introduction was planned for spring, according to Publishers Weekly. Walden Pond Press and Balzer & Bray, two fledgling presses at HarperCollins, both survived the shake-up.

Here’s more on the fate of Bowen’s books: “The imprint was just getting up to speed–[Bowen Press] had released two titles–and this spring was to mark its official debut. A company spokesperson said future titles will be released under either the HarperCollins Children’s Books or HarperTeen banner.”
